Let’s face it: DC summer is HOT. It’s humid. It’s physically uncomfortable. We sweat, we drink cold cocktails and craft beer all afternoon because it’s too muggy to do much else. But what about those days when you can’t escape to a nearby brunch patio or you have to do this thing called YOUR DAY JOB?? We’re so glad you asked! ;)
This summer we’re working hard to bring you what we think is THEE key to surviving DC summer: The cold pressed juice eat/drink summer hybrid. We’ve packed a few of our hydration favorite flavors with fresh, all organic (always organic!) fruit and vegetables to keep you cool and full without feeling weighed down. Currently in store are our Summer Melon Soup, Beet Chia Seed Lemon-Aid (click link to see close up!) and Watermelon Gazpacho (pictured above). Our Pure Chia with signature Daily Green juice is always available year round also!
It’s been a busy couple of weeks for us as we transition into the summer months with seasonal flavors and new food! In the midst of all the excitement we were THRILLED to have the opportunity to team up with friend and collegue, Melissa Jones of Goodsoil Events, an organization and #girlboss both near and dear to us. Good Soil Produces Good Food was held last Wednesday, on a beautiful evening in our Bethesda Row location. Stories of food, health and soil were shared by guest speakers: Annita Seckinger (soil scientist), Daniel Brafman (holistic health & performance coach speaker) and ours truly, Amy Waldman. We dined on our signature green juice, a seasonal favorite strawberry lemonade, thai quinoa bowls (being prepped below) and a GIANT bowl of kale chips. Never one to say no to an adventure (especially if it’s an organic food one!) Melissa and team allowed us to run a new seasonal smoothie (orange, banana, pienapple and kale) as well as a truly on-the-spot cinnamon-banana cashew “ice cream” with acai blueberry crunch topping. Thanks for everything GoodSoil Events, we can’t wait for round two! Check out more fun photos from the night (like our girl Miss Dixie trying her hand as a #coldpressed (mini chia pudding) cocktail waitress here on our instagram).
So excited to be teaming up with GOOD SOIL EVENTS for GOOD SOIL PRODUCES GOOD FOOD, a happy hour connecting the dots between food, soil and HEALTH. We’ll be serving up some of our most favorite, signature juices, smoothies and small bites and introducing some new summer recipes as well! We can’t WAIT till next Wednesday! I don’t know about you, but once summer hits in DC, hot, heavy foods are the LAST thing on my mind. They leave me feeling slow and lethargic (not to mention, even more sweaty!). Puree’s fresh-pressed PINEAPPLE infused Daily Green on the other hand? That juice is my summer JAM. It’s light, refreshing and high in manganese (which aids in metabolism) and Vitamin C. But sometimes a juice just isn’t enough and on those days I go with PURE CHIA, a daily green loaded with chia, a superfood seed that is naturally high in fiber and soaks up to 12 TIMES their weight in liquid (giving it a bubble-tea like consistency). The PURE CHIA fills me up without weighing me down, while also aiding in hydration. Not a pineapple fan?? We can turn most of our cold pressed juices into a PURE CHIA with a 24-hour advance notice. :)
